IL Chicago West Loop

West Loop lies along the west bank of the Chicago River, and it is also defined by 290 to the south and Ashland Ave to the west, up to W Grand Ave. This area on the edge of downtown Chicago has seen a flood of growth as former warehouses, factories, and wholesale markets have been converted into residential space and much more. Condos and converted lofts in West Loop are occupied by families and singles. Updated West Loop real estate is also now home to a contrasting assortment of acclaimed eateries and showplaces for art and design.

Chicago French Market or “Restaurant Row,” the city’s one year-around indoor market, is in West Loop, where eating specialty foods in different dining spots can be a nightly adventure. The area is not all about restaurants, bars, and luxe lofts, however. Another element that gives the community vibrant edginess is the plethora of independently-owned antique sources, retail boutiques, design showrooms, and art galleries. Among the collections to see are folk art, sculptures, European prints, textiles, and contemporary paintings, all housed in antiquated signature buildings.

The most popular Greek restaurant in America is a West Loop mainstay. Greek Islands has been serving the Chicago area since 1971. One of the most popular parks in West Loop is Union Park, which features a swimming pool, fitness center, water spray pool, and courts for basketball and tennis. House of Vans is a West Loop hotspot, as well; it’s a combination event space, skate park, and music venue.

Cultural relevance is synonymous with West Loop, Chicago. Among the museums in this dynamic area is the National Hellenic Museum, the country’s only major museum devoted to Greek-American culture.

Homes for sale in West Loop are sought after by a burgeoning population of restaurateurs, families, and young professionals. The antiquated buildings have been remarkably transformed into luxury condominiums, open-layout urban lofts, and in-demand retail spaces.
