North Center is one of 77 designated areas in the City of Chicago, and it’s located on the northeast side. Its borders are the Chicago River to the west, W. Montrose Ave. to the North, N. Ravenswood Ave. on the east side, and W. Diversey Parkway to the south. Neighborhoods within the community are Hamlin Park, St. Ben’s, Roscoe Village, and North Center. Recently voted one of the best neighborhoods in Chicago, North Center homes for sale are often much in demand.
The place to go in North Center to find the heart of the action is a six-way intersection where Damen and Lincoln Avenue meet Irving Park Road. In that area there is something for everyone, from movie theaters and live stage performances to local pubs, live music, and more. Enjoy German, Irish, and Chinese cuisine and other international flavors. The architecture has classic charm, the community is heavily dotted with picturesque parks, and it has some of the top-ranked schools in the state, all of which are more reasons homes for sale in North Center are popular with home buyers.
North Center real estate includes three city parks, bowling alleys, and an indoor ice arena. A point of interest in the city is near Western Avenue and Oakley Avenue along Byron Street, where historic production buildings of Selig Polyscope Company are in use as retail stores and residences. Some of the earliest motion pictures were filmed in Chicago.
On Saturdays from June to October, a Farmer’s Market opens in North Center Town Square. The activity is indicative of the vibrant community, as is Ribfest Chicago, a yearly summer festival on Lincoln Avenue.
Bus and train lines provide convenient public transportation throughout Chicago. North Center is connected by the Chicago “L” and provides a 30-minute train ride to downtown Chicago. Within the neighborhoods, businesses are usually within walking distance; and there is a lot of pedestrian activity in Chicago’s North Center.
