IL Chicago Irving Park

Irving Park is one of Chicago’s 77 designated communities on the North Side. The Chicago River is its eastern border, and its western margin is marked by the Milwaukee railroad tracks. Situated on the Northwest Side of Chicago, Irving Park real estate has one southern area framed by W. Belmont Avenue and a larger stretch established at W. Addison Street. Most of the northern perimeter runs alongside W. Montrose Avenue. The northwestern portion then slants to the west mostly along N. Elston Avenue and has a smaller northern edge adjacent to W. Lawrence Avenue.

The neighborhoods to search for Irving Park houses for sale include Avondale Gardens, The Villa, Kilbourn Park, Old Irving Park, and Little Cassubia. The Villa neighborhood went up in 1902, and among the distinguished architects who built the area’s structures was the renowned Frank Lloyd Wright, whose Prairie Style of architecture is on display. The name of Little Cussabia was coined by resident immigrants originally from Kashubia, and the area’s history is a representative slice of the rich diversity found throughout Chicago.

A charming distinction of Chicago is that it is replete with landmarks; and The Whistle Stop Inn, located in Irving Park, is among them. The storefront built in 1889 serves as a historic representation of intimate neighborhood stores, which are rare now but were common when the Whistle Stop Inn was erected.

Horner Park is one of a number of nature areas in Irving Park, and it is among the largest parks on Chicago’s North Side. Within the park’s approximately 58 acres are nine softball fields plus several baseball diamonds, football and soccer fields, a playground, and five tennis courts. Anyone seeking homes for sale in Irving Park near nature will appreciate that Horner Park also has a popular area for enjoying the great outdoors and it is complete with 13 wooded areas perfect for picnickers. Horner Park also has a cultural side, offering woodcraft, piano, guitar, multi-cultural art, a pottery studio, and much more. Kolmar Platlot Park, Mayfair Park, and Independence Park are among the other designated green spaces in Irving Park.
