Forest Glen is among the northernmost of the 77 designated areas in Chicago, Illinois. The community is comprised of Sauganash, Edgebrook, and Forest Glen as well as the sub-neighborhoods of Old Edgebrook, North Edgebrook, Wildwood, and Sauganash Park. Forest Glen real estate may be on the outskirts of the city, but it is considered among Chicago’s most refined residential areas. The community is both calm and captivating, offering “the best of both worlds.” Forest Glen is a quiet suburb with easy access to the city’s many cultural amenities. Most of the estimated 550 residences in Forest Glen are single-family homes constructed post-World War II. It’s possible to find houses for sale in Forest Glen, though most are owner-occupied.
There are a number of reasons Forest Glen homes for sale always spark a lot of interest, and transportation is among them. Metra services are provided at two Forest Glen stops on the Milwaukee District/North Line. Forest Glen’s southern edge is accessible from Union Pacific/Northwest Line, with stops in nearby Jefferson Park and Gladstone Park. Jefferson Park is also served by the Blue Line, with convenient service to O’Hare International Airport and the downtown Chicago area. The Edens Expressway has several Forest Glen exchanges, as well.
A highlight of the Forest Glen area is found in the Sauganash neighborhood, home to Chicago’s most notable bike trails. There is abundant green space in Forest Glen, with plenty of opportunities to engage in fun, healthful activities. A plethora of casual recreational venues are within the community’s borders. Sidney Yates Flatwoods, a nature preserve in Forest Glen, for example, offers excellent nature trails.
As for nightlife, Forest Glen has plenty of fine restaurants, live performances, and weekend specials that locals enjoy.
