Within Chicago’s designated community of Norwood Park is Oriole Park, a quiet neighborhood with a suburban feel populated in large part by city workers, including firefighters, police officers, teachers, and union workers. Oriole Park is defined by W Foster Ave to the south, N Canfield Ave to the west, Kennedy Expressway to the north, and N Harlem Ave to the east.
Just south of W Bryn Mawr Ave, in the approximate center of the Oriole Park neighborhood, is a 19.51-acre park of the same name. There are year-round activities for people of every age at the park. Outdoor amenities are plentiful. One of the two Chicago Plays! playgrounds within the park has a sandbox, a ship theme, and a remarkable interactive water spray pool. Oriole Park also has two regular basketball courts, one junior basketball court, a combination soccer/football field, four junior-sized baseball fields, two full-sized baseball diamonds, and paved pathways for running, walking, bicycling, and inline skating.
Homes for sale throughout Oriole Park the neighborhood are popular partly because at the park, youth between the ages of 6 and 12 can hone skills in recreational tumbling, indoor tennis, basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, and track and field. Students can also take piano lessons, cooking lessons, and much more.
To the west side of Oriole Park, single-family homes are prevalent, whereas condominiums are concentrated near the eastern boundary. The Harlem Blue Line station is on the northeast side, where commuting is most convenient and where a mural by Alex Katz representing the hard workers and diversity of Oriole Park has been on display since 1985.
While much of Chicago has a lively nightlife, Oriole Park real estate offers a sprinkling of local restaurants and nearby establishments just outside the boundaries serving a variety of comfort foods. For homebuyers seeking quietude, Oriole Park homes for sale are good places to start a search.
