IL Chicago Edison Park

Edison Park ranks as one of the best communities in Chicago, Illinois, and it consists solely of the Edison Park neighborhood. Among the reasons people seek to buy a house in Edison Park is that the community has the lowest violent crime rate of all of the 77 designated areas that make up Chicago, and it is considered one of the best places to live in the entire State of Illinois. Edison Park was named after Thomas Alva Edison, who, in 1890, gave his consent to use the community namesake. The area was formerly known as Canfield, and it is located in the northwestern part of the city.
Located between Howard Street and W. Devon Street to the north and south and N. Ozanam Ave. and Harlem Ave. to the east and west, the Edison Park real estate includes a nice amount of green space.
Olympia Park, in the southwest part of the community, is a 9.75-acre park that provides a huge selection of programs for residents. There are arts and crafts, painting, and drawing classes for kids as young as 18 months old. The park has three tennis courts, four basketball standards, a water play feature, a playground, and a combination football/soccer field. Adults can participate in basketball and volleyball leagues, both of which are very popular. Fitness classes and more activities are offered for seniors.
Brooks (Oscar) Park in Edison Park occupies 9.16 acres and serves as a vital part of the community, as well. Every December, athletes compete in a boxing show. Youth have the choice of participating in art, volleyball, floor hockey, recreational tumbling, and/or basketball classes. Brooks Park also has a playground, a water spray feature, two tennis courts, one football/soccer field, and horeshoe pits.
In mid-August each year, the traditional Edison Park Festival is celebrated. The weekend slated for the end of summer has been a neighborhood tradition since 1972. The Edison Park Chamber of Commerce sponsors the weekend and combines it with entertainment, a parade, merchant sidewalk sales, arts, crafts, and Taste of Chicago.
Edison Park has areas with affordable rent, and the community’s transportation includes a Union Pacific / Northwest Line station.
